Hi! I’m currently enrolled in the Mental Health Counseling program at Teachers College, Columbia University. I create a therapeutic space where healing, self-exploration, and empowerment come together. I honor that we live in a world of interconnected systems, where the flow of power can impact each of us differently. Together, we can create ways for you to connect more deeply with yourself and the worlds around you by channeling the safety of hope.
My approach is trauma-informed and relational, focusing on adapting therapy to meet your individual, cultural, and personal contexts. I incorporate psychodynamic and emotion-focused modalities that I tailor to fit your needs and goals. I lean into the unique authenticity and vulnerability of the therapeutic bond to help you honor the past, recognize the present, and design your future.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Applied Psychology from Forman Christian College in Pakistan. Concurrently, I worked in out-patient and in-patient psychiatric settings and discovered the shortcomings of the biomedical model of mental healthcare. Inspired, I co-founded “The Awaaz Movement”, a mental health awareness and advocacy initiative for Pakistani youth. We used social media to engage Pakistani youth with information about advances in global holistic mental health. This was an effort to destigmatize mental health, thus reducing barriers to care and building community. Through this work, I experienced insights into the relationship between shame, deservingness of care, and access to mental health services. These learnings inform my work and contribute to a growing practice of socially just therapy.
I continue my journey of advocacy and community well-being in the chaos of New York. My two cats have dibs on my time if they feel so inclined to offer their company. I enjoy leaning into little joys like inspiration for a painting session, chai with my loved ones, and an extra hour of sleep when possible.
