Steve Krause, LMHC-LP
Staff Therapist
He/Him
Steve works with people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem/self-worth, loneliness, loss, relationship and intimacy issues, vocational concerns, and other sources of stress. His goal is to help clients live more fully, freely, and resiliently as they honor their thoughts and feelings, embrace their identities, pursue their interests and goals, and build or strengthen affirming relationships.
In his work with clients, he listens first to understand and then to respond with sincerity, empathy, and compassion. He also develops genuinely caring, nonjudgmental, therapeutic relationships with clients; after all, trust, safety, and authenticity create a context in which people can share and examine their thoughts, feelings, concerns, and vulnerabilities.
In support of clients’ growth and healing, he draws upon various psychotherapeutic approaches, including relational-cultural therapy (RCT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, family systems theory, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), narrative therapy, and mindfulness practices.
Steve’s academic degrees include an M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from NYU, an M.A. in Secondary Education from Roosevelt University, and a B.A. in Psychology from Northwestern University.
